Gert Scobel - famous as the host of the 3sat show "Culture Time", invites you to join him live for an intensive encounter with Johann Sebastian Bach and his music. As part of the show he enjoys relaxed conversations with prominent guests and selected experts such as Bobby McFerrin, Jacques Loussier and choirmaster George Christoph Biller, while presenting stunning clips from legendary and spectacular film and television productions featuring Bach's music. The list of artists that Scobel is able to present on screen ranges from Glen Could and Friedrich Guida to Kascha Heifetz, Pablo Casals and Karl Richter, from the Munich Back Choir, Helmut Rilling and the Gäching Choir to Vanessa Mae and her popular interpretation of "Tosca".
All this becomes particularly interesting when the musical talk-show guests are invited to reach for the piano or violin themselves and illustrate their claims in relation to the actual music. Among the many other aspects of this comprehensive workshop on the work of Bach, the role his music played in international film successes such as "Fantasia", "Sleeping Brother" and "The English Patient" is studied.
