"More than 30 years ago, the curtain drew up for the first time on a 45-minute series in the German ZDF television network. This series developed Sunday for Sunday and note for note into a required event for all music fans: the "ZDF Sonntagskonzert".

The most important component, besides touristic highlights, is of course the popular and entertaining music programme.
The repertoire consists of folk music, German-language hits, traditional music, popular melodies from operettas and musicals, well-known pieces, and light German pop.
The entertaining mixture of various musical contributions is a trademark of the series. In addition to stars from the current musical scene, regional artists are an important part of the programme. They emphasise the broadcast's travelogue character through a specific musical colouring.
